Job summary

Wolfson College, University of Oxford, is seeking a practical and organised Maintenance Supervisor to lead a team of four Technicians and ensure high standards of building, accommodation and facilities maintenance.

This role combines hands-on maintenance with team leadership, delivering reliable, responsive and professional service across College facilities and services.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or above in a relevant building or maintenance trade, or equivalent time‑served experience.
• Broad practical knowledge of building maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry and general repairs.
• Experience of supervising staff and coordinating contractors.
• Ability to organise workloads, prioritise competing demands and respond calmly to unexpected problems.
• Good understanding of safe working practices and health and safety requirements.
• Good communication and basic IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Leading, supporting and motivating a team of four Maintenance Technicians.
• Planning, allocating and prioritising daily maintenance work.
• Coordinating and supervising external contractors, ensuring work is completed safely and to the required standard.
• Undertaking practical maintenance and repairs across College buildings and accommodation.
• Supporting planned preventative maintenance, building inspections and health and safety compliance.
• Assisting with the operation and monitoring of the College’s modern, low-carbon heating systems.
• Working closely with colleagues across the College to provide a helpful and responsive maintenance service.
