Job Description

We are recruiting for a Lead Building Maintenance Operative / Engineer to cover PPM and reactive maintenance on a large-scale estate in the Manchester area. The Shift Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for completing planned and reactive maintenance to the buildings and supervising maintenance and cleaning contractors. The role is a permanent position paying 43-45k (including shift allowance).

The position involves a 5/7 night shift, approximately 20:00 - 04:30. Responsibilities include:

1. Completing reactive repairs, planned maintenance, and small works projects.
2. Plumbing repairs and maintenance.
3. Basic electrical work such as lamping and emergency light checks.
4. Drainage, fabric maintenance duties – basic joinery, painting, plastering, etc.
5. L8 prevention and thermostatic mixer valves (TMV).
6. General handyperson duties.
7. Logging jobs via PDA and communicating with the helpdesk.
8. Liaison with site managers.
9. Supervision of contractors on-site, including cleaning teams.

Maintenance Operative requirements:

• General technical skills such as basic plumbing and/or electrical work, with some qualifications preferred.
• Several years of experience, ideally in similar roles, with good customer skills.
• Supervisory or lead experience.
• Overlap with soft services is desirable.
• Self-motivated with a positive customer attitude.
• Willingness to undertake training as required.
• Ability to operate building systems effectively and efficiently, following guidelines.
• Willing and able to pass security checks.
