Overview:

Assist in managing the day-to-day workload for the maintenance team to ensure effective and efficient service delivery and achievement of departmental targets. This includes planning and resourcing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and maintenance shutdowns. Drive a culture of continuous improvement within a team of skilled Technicians. Provide leadership and line management, overseeing workloads, supporting team members, monitoring issues, and ensuring targets, KPIs, and quality standards are met. Develop the team by focusing on individual performance and support needs to achieve high standards, fostering a safety culture. Work independently at the organizational level, with outcomes reviewed by the organizational head. Decisions impact the function's success and the organization's image.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Robot and PLC programming
  2. Maintain and repair Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronic systems and equipment
  3. Ensure efficient maintenance operations to meet operational and customer demands
  4. Manage maintenance projects
  5. Ensure safety of team members and others affected by maintenance activities
  6. Adhere to company quality requirements
  7. Diagnose breakdowns and repair equipment promptly to maximize availability
  8. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to minimize unplanned downtime
  9. Document all work on equipment accurately in paper and electronic systems
  10. Analyze issues to identify root causes and develop corrective actions
  11. Manage maintenance tools, equipment, and spares
  12. Identify and document breakdowns and remedial actions to prevent recurrence
  13. Maintain high standards of tidiness and organization following 5S principles
  14. Comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  15. Prepare reports and present progress at project meetings
  16. Conduct quality control reviews of work
  17. Utilize technical skills to expedite issues and minimize downtime
  18. Conduct benchmarking to identify best practices
  19. Plan and track long-term projects, ensuring timely and within-budget completion
  20. Manage complex activities and lead innovative problem-solving initiatives
  21. Engage in continuous training and development
  22. Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems effectively
  23. Deploy technical skills and resources efficiently, including external resources as needed
  24. Ensure KPIs are met through planning, management, and reporting
  25. Conduct risk assessments of departmental processes and tasks
People Management:
  • Collaborate with the team and other departments to develop maintenance strategies and procedures
  • Liaise with Production and Quality to maintain high build quality
  • Lead and motivate maintenance technicians/engineers for optimal performance
  • Provide feedback and suggest improvements to management
  • Maintain effective communication with other departments, suppliers, and contractors
  • Control and organize the team’s daily work schedule
  • Delegate tasks and oversee team performance, attendance, and discipline
  • Identify team development needs and support training
  • Motivate and coach team members for operational success
  • Monitor task completion and performance records
  • Promote high standards and behaviors through personal example
Self Management:
  • Support and comply with health & safety, quality, environmental standards, and company policies

Qualifications and Experience:
  • A Levels, ONC, City & Guilds Level 3, BTEC National Diploma Level 3, IVQ Technician Diploma, NVQ3
  • Extensive experience in injection moulding environment
  • Professional accreditation (advantageous)
  • Recognized apprenticeship in maintenance management
  • Facilities management experience
  • Background in mechanical, electrical, electronic, or software disciplines
  • Significant experience in high-volume manufacturing, preferably automotive
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and QC tools
  • Knowledge of health & safety legislation including ISO14001
