Job summary

Serco Group plc in Warrington is seeking a Maintenance Operative to provide safe, secure and well-maintained accommodation for people seeking asylum under the Home Office's AASC contract.

Whether you have maintenance experience or strong DIY skills, you'll receive tools, training and opportunities to progress. You will carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across properties, travel regionally, and participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota to support 24-hour emergency cover.

Qualifications

• Strong DIY skills or maintenance experience.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.
• Desirable: experience or qualifications in one or more trades (joinery, plumbing, painting, decorating, building maintenance).
• Willingness to travel throughout the region and occasionally elsewhere in the UK.
• Experience using digital systems to manage maintenance jobs.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across a portfolio of properties, ensuring work is completed safely and to high standard.
• Complete joinery, plumbing, painting and decorating, fitting and general maintenance tasks.
• Work with Housing Officers, contractors and colleagues to maintain safe, compliant homes meeting Home Office standards.
• Record maintenance activities and manage jobs through our systems; coordinate contractors and repairs as needed.
• Carry out property compliance tasks, including Planned Maintenance and PAT testing, maintaining safe working practices.
• Manage materials, tools and the company vehicle; ensure everything is maintained to professional standards.
• Build positive relationships with residents, landlords and partner organisations; provide professional, customer-focused service.
• Take part in the out-of-hours on-call rota to support 24-hour emergency maintenance.
