Job Description

The Maintenance Plumber will provide support for Glasgow Airport's water and drainage infrastructure, including maintenance of commercial and domestic boiler systems.

• Perform planned and reactive maintenance on water infrastructure and boiler assets, ensuring optimal serviceability.
• Complete maintenance records accurately in line with regulatory requirements and best practices.
• Engage in Continuous Improvement programmes to enhance customer service, safety, quality, and cost efficiency.
• Ensure work plans align with industry best practices.
• Communicate effectively with customers and team members regarding work progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues and trainees to broaden skills and knowledge, supporting high-quality customer service and cross-training on airport-specific and specialist equipment.
• Proactively upgrade skills for new assets and services to maintain performance standards.
• Coordinate with contractors to meet maintenance objectives and share site-specific knowledge.
• Adhere to safety rules, regulations, and organisational procedures.
• Inspect contractor work and report any issues for follow-up.
• Prepare cost and effort estimates for minor works.
• Maintain stores in collaboration with the Stores Manager to ensure sufficient spares.
• Assist in reviewing and updating risk assessments and contingency plans.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

• Completion of a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship to SVQ3 or equivalent in Plumbing, with an ONC/HNC in the same discipline.

Plus:

• Gas Safe registration for commercial and domestic installations.

Desirable:

• Experience in a similar engineering or maintenance role.

Framework and Boundaries

• Work closely with Maintenance Manager B&C, other Airport Duty Engineers and Technicians, Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager M&E, Stores Manager, and departmental shift managers.
