Job summary

Hartford Care is seeking a Maintenance Person to provide general upkeep for Island Court Care Home in the West Midlands. You will help keep interiors and grounds well maintained, perform redecorations and light carpentry, and contribute to a safe, caring environment for residents.

Qualifications

• Compassionate and caring nature essential.
• Proven general maintenance experience and skills.
• Robust painting/decorating ability with attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills with residents and colleagues.
• Comfort using apps and systems on tablets/IT devices.
• Solid knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
• Good organisation and planning capabilities.
• Ability to work alone or in a team.
• Flexible hours to meet home needs.
• Valid full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide general maintenance and caretaking for the home and grounds.
• Carry out tasks from redecoration to carpet laying as required.
• Assist in resident wellbeing through safe, supportive work.
• Perform routine checks such as fire alarm testing.
• Adhere to safety protocols and team procedures.

Job description

Location: Island Court Care Home, 55 Bourne St, Coseley, Bilston, West Midlands, WV14 9HN

Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week

The Role

As a Maintenance Person, you will be providing a general maintenance and caretaking service to ensure the home and grounds (including gardens where required) are well maintained as required, and working together as a team to create a happy and caring atmosphere.

Whether you are redecorating a room ready for a new resident to move in, laying a new carpet, chatting to a resident as you change their light bulb, or carrying out a fire alarm check you will do so with care at the heart of everything you do.

Requirements

Essential

• A compassionate and caring nature
• Good level of skills and experience in carrying out general maintenance
• Robust and high-quality painting and decorating experience with a keen eye for detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Good IT skills and knowledge (including robust skills in using apps and systems on iPads and other IT equipment)
• Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
• Strong organisation and planning skills
• Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
• A flexible approach to working hours
• Full and clean driving license

It would be desirable if you have previously been trained as the Legionella Responsible Person in your workplace.
