Job summary

Dovehaven Care Homes is recruiting a Maintenance Person for Callands Care Home in Warrington. The role runs Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm, on a 40-hour contract, and focuses on general internal/external maintenance to ensure safety for residents, visitors, and staff.

The successful candidate will handle basic repairs, grounds work, safety checks, and general duties as needed by the maintenance manager. Driving licence and a practical, hands-on approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Essential experience of DIY and decorating.
• Caring nature.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team and individually.
• Flexibility and ability to adapt to residents’ needs.
• Full clean driving licence.
• Health & Safety or Maintenance qualification is desirable.
• Previous experience in a care or nursing home or similar.

Responsibilities

• General Internal Maintenance: furniture, fixtures and fittings, equipment, basic heating faults.
• General Exterior: maintain grounds & gardens, fences and furniture, clear snow and grit paths, clean all signs & lighting.
• Safety: identify hazards and risks, testing of fire alarm, liaise with contractors onsite, maintain a maintenance book, ensure paints & varnishes are stored correctly, test and record water temps.
• Moving & Handling: assist with deliveries and storage.
• General duties as requested by the home manager or maintenance manager.

About The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the general maintenance of the care home, ultimately ensuring the safety of all residents, visitors and employees.

About You
