Job summary

Colten Care is seeking a Maintenance Person to cover our Castle View and Abbey View sites in Dorset. You will perform routine maintenance and minor repairs, and conduct monthly tests on equipment including fire safety devices and lighting. You will report to Facilities Management and keep meticulous records.

You must be a driver with your own car, and be prepared to travel between homes to complete planned and reactive tasks, ensuring safety and reliability for residents.

Qualifications

• Valid driving licence and own car for site travel.
• Experience in routine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Comfort with maintaining records in a maintenance software system.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs in care homes.
• Conduct monthly tests/inspections on equipment (fire doors, lighting, fire extinguishers, etc.).
• Report issues to Facilities Management and keep records up to date.
• Handle planned maintenance and reactive tasks (beds, shelves, lighting, fittings).
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and travel between sites.

Maintenance Person

Based at Castle View, DT1 2NH

40 hours per week

Pay rate: £15.77 per hour

Summary:

• Perform routine maintenance services and minor repairs within care homes
• Conduct monthly tests and inspections on various equipment (fire doors, water temperature outlets, fire extinguishers, etc.)
• Report issues or observations to the Facilities Management team
• Perform both planned maintenance tasks and reactive repairs (e.g., checking profile beds, fitting shelves, changing light bulbs)
• Maintain a responsive approach to maintenance requests from the care home

About the Role:

Working across Castle View 3 days a week and Abbey View 2 days a week, you will be working in our care homes, ensuring facilities are kept safe and reliable for our residents’. You will agree priorities with your line manager and carry out monthly tests and inspections on equipment such as fire doors, water temperature outlets, fire extinguishers, security doors, internal and external lighting, wheelchair, window restrictors, reclining chairs and nursing beds. A central part of the maintenance role is administrative, keeping accurate records via our maintenance software system and reporting issues or observations to the Facilities Management team to ensure the home is safe and meets both Colten Care and Regulatory standards.

In addition to the planned maintenance tasks, you will also provide a wide range and number of reactive repairs and requests including the checking and repair of profile beds, fitting shelves and picture hooks, changing light bulbs, securing door handles or helping to move furniture. You'll have a keen eye for detail, reviewing your reactive requests raised on the maintenance software system for matters requiring attention and providing a responsive approach to the various maintenance needs of the care home. You’ll be a car driver and own your own car.
