Job summary

Roseberry Care is seeking a hands‑on Maintenance Operative at our South Shields home to carry out general repairs, routine maintenance and health and safety compliant checks. You’ll help keep the building safe, well‑maintained and a comfortable environment for residents and staff.

The role requires practical skills across plumbing, carpentry, electrical tasks and groundskeeping, with strong problem‑solving and time‑management. A full UK driving licence is advantageous for inter-site travel.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a similar maintenance or handyman role
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance
• Full UK driving licence (if travel between sites is required)
• Relevant trade qualifications or certifications (desirable but not required)

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment.
• Perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks (e.g., plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, plastering).
• Respond promptly to reported faults or emergency maintenance requests.
• Perform general handyman duties, including assembling furniture, moving equipment, and minor groundskeeping.
• Support external contractors when on site.
• Keep maintenance records and reports up to date.

Your Role
