Job summary

Highgate Care in Darlington is seeking a Maintenance Operative to join The Lawns care home. You’ll help maintain the building and grounds, report defects, and support safe, clean environments for residents.

• Maintain the Home’s exterior including sheds, outbuildings and waste areas
• Carry out planned maintenance and checks as specified in Company procedures
• Test portable appliances and water temperatures; log results in the Maintenance Book
• Assist deliveries and contractors on site

We’re currently looking for an Maintenance Operative to join the team at The Lawns in Darlington If you’re someone who naturally brings warmth, energy and creativity wherever you go, and you love the idea of making each day meaningful for our residents, this could be the perfect role for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Report and action any known defects to appliances, damaged furniture / equipment and any other potential hazards to the Home Manager.
• Ensure the maintenance of the Home’s exterior, including:
• Keep any sheds, utbuildings and areas in which waste is stored in a clean and tidy condition.
• Clear snw and grit the drive, paths and any areas to which Residents, Visitors or Staff Members have access.
• Where applicable, litter pick, cut the grass arund the building and tend to any flowerbeds, hanging baskets etc.
• Clean all signs / lighting utside the Home
• Carry out any touching up or making good of decoration as and when required in order to maintain our high standards.
• Complete weekly Pre planned maintenances such as statutory compliance checks, Testing of the fire alarm system, and log results, weekly. Check call points, fire exits, door retaining devices and fire emergency lights, as specified in Company procedures.
• Complete and accurately record all Planned maintenance as required. (Please see PPM list)
• Ensure all ventilation units and lights are kept clean. Replace any defective light bulbs / diffusers.
• Test all portable appliances as specified in Company procedures. (If trained and competent)
• Test, and record, water temperatures, clean and chlorinate shower heads as specified in Company procedures.
• Maintain the homes “Maintenance Book” in which defects are logged and PPMS are recorded. Use this book to effect repairs/replacements daily. If unable to complete the task, please log with Helpdesk.
• Assist/supervise with deliveries to the Home. Monitor and sign off deliveries.
• Assist Contractors onsite.
