Job summary

Care South is inviting applications for a Maintenance Operative at Alexandra House, a residential care home in Gillingham, North Dorset. You will perform a range of building maintenance, checks and repairs to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for elderly residents.

The role requires initiative, reliability and flexibility for occasional evening or weekend call outs. Induction and training are provided to support your development and duties.

Qualifications

Basic Electrical Safety certificate.
Knowledge of Plumbing and Legionella.
Experience with heating, electrical and fire systems.
Heating and/or Plumbing qualifications.

Responsibilities

Carry out a varied range of building maintenance, checks and repairs.
Cover plumbing, heating, electrical, decoration, fire testing and carpentry across the home.
Respond to emergencies with possible evening or weekend call outs.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for Maintenance Operative to join the team at Alexandra House, our residential care home located in Gillingham, North Dorset.

As a Maintenance Operative, you will be a crucial part of the TEAM, ensuring the care home always remains functional.

In this role you'll be responsible for carrying out a varied range of building maintenance, checks and repairs throughout the property to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for the elderly residents at our home., We provide a comprehensive induction and training programme, so you'll be fully supported, every step of the way.

Ideally you will have experience of working in a care home or similar regulated environment, which involves dealing with several maintenance tasks daily.

You will need to be confident to use your own initiative, and work with minimum supervision throughout the day.

On occasion you'll also support with the maintenance / handyperson needs at other local Care South residential homes.

Ideal Skills & Experience.

Basic Electrical Safety certificate
Knowledge of Plumbing and Legionella
Experience of using heating, electrical and fire systems
Heating and/or Plumbing qualifications

Strong general repair skills are required, as key duties will include both planned and reactive maintenance across all areas of the home, covering, plumbing, heating, electrical, decoration, fire testing, care equipment and carpentry.

Should you require Fire Safety or Legionella training or updates to your current certification, Care South will be happy to support your career progression.
