Job summary

Flow Student is seeking a Maintenance Operative at Archways, Sheffield, with involvement across Flow Student sites. The role is permanent, 37.5 hours weekly, typically 9am–6pm, on-site with a salary of £27,530 plus bonus.

You will fix issues, support residents, and help maintain safe, welcoming spaces for students. Ideal candidates will have a UK driving license, basic maintenance skills, and knowledge of health and safety regulations, plus strong customer-service and communication abilities.

Qualifications

• Hold a Valid UK driving license - essential for traveling between sites.
• Basic technical maintenance skills - joinery, plastering, basic domestic plumbing, and like-for-like electrical changes with safety and proper documentation.
• Knowledge and adherence to Health and Safety legislation - ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with legal standards.
• Experience in general maintenance and customer-facing roles - ability to work effectively while delivering top customer service.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills - addressing maintenance issues efficiently and interacting professionally with stakeholders and colleagues.
• Experience within PBSA, student accommodation, property management, or hospitality (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Perform General Maintenance Tasks: carry out basic joinery, plastering, plumbing, electrical repairs, and reactive maintenance to ensure buildings are safe, secure, and well-maintained.
• Ensure Health and Safety Compliance: maintain a safe environment by completing monitoring, responding promptly to safety-related calls, and adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
• Deliver Excellent Customer Service: connect with students and colleagues, respond to maintenance requests and student feedback, and provide support with a positive and approachable attitude.
• Use Tools and Procedures: log maintenance issues accurately and complete planned inspections, reporting any remedial work to the appropriate engineer.

About The Role

Location: Archways, Sheffield, although able to work across all Flow Student sites as required

Contract Type: Permanent

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7, typically between the hours of 9am and 6pm.

Salary: £27,530 + bonus

As a Maintenance Operative, you'll play a key part in creating safe, welcoming, and well-maintained spaces that help our students feel at home and thrive. You'll work closely with your Maintenance Manager, peers and residents, resolving maintenance issues, responding to health and safety needs, and supporting a high-quality living environment.
