Job summary

Bridge Oak Care Homes is seeking a Maintenance Operative for Ascot Lodge in Sheffield. The role is permanent, full-time (38.5 hours per week) with occasional evenings and weekends. Salary is £14.05 per hour on a PAYE basis.

You’ll help keep the home safe, clean and well-maintained for residents and staff. Responsibilities include defect reporting, exterior maintenance, routine checks (fire safety, PPMS), and assisting with deliveries and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Report and address defects to appliances, furniture or equipment and hazards to the Home Manager.
• Maintain the Home exterior and grounds; keep sheds, paths and waste areas tidy; clear snow and grit driveways as needed.
• Carry out decorative touch-ups to maintain high standards.
• Complete planned maintenance, including fire alarm checks and log results.
• Record maintenance in the Maintenance Book and log PPMS daily.
• Assist deliveries and supervision with contractors on site.

What You’ll Be Doing

As our Maintenance Operative, you’ll play a vital role in enriching the lives of residents by:

• Report and action any known defects to appliances, damaged furniture / equipment and any other potential hazards to the Home Manager.
• Ensure the maintenance of the Home’s exterior, including:
  • Keep any sheds, outbuildings and areas in which waste is stored in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Clear snow and grit the drive, paths and any areas to which Residents, Visitors or Staff Members have access.
  • Where applicable, litter pick, cut the grass around the building and tend to any flowerbeds, hanging baskets etc.
  • Clean all signs / lighting utside the Home
• Carry out any touching up or making good of decoration as and when required in order to maintain our high standards.
• Complete weekly Pre planned maintenances such as statutory compliance checks, Testing of the fire alarm system, and log results, weekly. Check call points, fire exits, door retaining devices and fire emergency lights, as specified in Company procedures.
• Complete and accurately record all Planned maintenance as required. (Please see PPM list)
• Ensure all ventilation units and lights are kept clean. Replace any defective light bulbs / diffusers.
• Test all portable appliances as specified in Company procedures. (If trained and competent)
• Test, and record, water temperatures, clean and chlorinate shower heads as specified in Company procedures.
• Maintain the homes “Maintenance Book” in which defects are logged and PPMS are recorded. Use this book to effect repairs/replacements daily. If unable to complete the task, please log with Helpdesk.
• Assist/supervise with deliveries to the Home. Monitor and sign off deliveries.
• Assist Contractors onsite.
