Job summary

Habito is seeking a part-time Maintenance Operative in Guildford to ensure the smooth running, safety and upkeep of Guildford Plaza. You will handle maintenance requests, resolve issues quickly and maintain communal areas to a high standard.

Ideal candidates have hands-on maintenance experience, and a focus on safety and resident comfort. This on-site role offers a 20-hour week schedule with fixed shifts and a supportive team.

Responsibilities

• Respond to maintenance requests quickly and keep the site safe.

• Prioritise health and safety, conduct compliance checks and tests.
• Collaborate with contractors, housekeepers and management.

We’re looking for a Maintenance Operative to ensure the smooth running safety, and upkeep of our Guildford Plaza development in Guildford . This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, quickly resolving maintenance issues, keeping communal areas in top condition, and ensuring residents enjoy a safe, comfortable and well-maintained home.

This is a part -time, on-site position, working 20 per week on a fixed shift pattern basis. Shifts are typically Saturday 8am-4.30pm, Sunday 8am-4.30pm and Monday 10am-2pm , with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break included for shifts over six hours. The role offers an hourly pay of £15,000 , reflective of experience and responsibilities.

What You’ll Be Doing .

As a Maintenance Operative, you’ll be a key part of ensuring everything on-site runs smoothly. Your role will include:

• Delivering a great resid ent experience – responding to maintenance requests quickly, keeping the site safe and ensuring resid ents feel at home.
• Carrying out maintenance and repairs – tackling plumbing, electrics, carpentry, and general fixes to keep everything in top condition.
• Keeping communal areas and rooms at their best – making sure shared spaces and resid ent s rooms are well-maintained and fully functional.
• Prioritising health & safety – completing compliance checks, carrying out fire alarm and water system tests and ensuring all areas are secure.
• Working as part of a team – collaborating with c ontractors , housekeepers and management to keep the site running efficiently.
