Job summary

Sanctuary Care is recruiting a Maintenance Operative for Fernihurst in Exmouth. The role includes plumbing basics, general repairs, safety checks, and keeping the home and garden in top condition.

You’ll be part of a supportive team that values quality care and practical hands-on work. You will work 39 hours per week at £14 per hour, with 25 days of annual leave pro rata, sick pay, and a contributory pension.

Qualifications

  • Right to work in the UK required.
  • Experience in maintenance or care settings preferred.
  • Driving licence is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Access practical training to build confidence in key tasks – including plumbing essentials and repair best practices.
  • Carry out regular health and safety checks to keep everyone safe.
  • Complete minor repairs and maintain the home and garden to a high standard.
  • Communicate clearly with residents, families, colleagues and contractors.
  • Coordinate contractor visits and ensure work meets quality standards.
  • Provide cover at other homes when needed.

Your role
  • Access practical training to build confidence in key tasks – including plumbing essentials and repair best practices

  • Provide cover at other homes when needed
  • Practical experience in minor repairs, basic plumbing and DIY
  • Understanding of health and safety protocols (Legionella awareness desirable)
  • Ability to work well with others and communicate effectively
  • Valid driving licence and access to transport
  • Confidence using an iPad or laptop for compliance tasks
