Job summary

Marchmont House Care Home in Port Glasgow is seeking a Maintenance Officer to keep the home safe, well maintained and fully operational. You will handle repairs, inspections, and installations, ensuring systems run safely and efficiently.

You will work with the Home Manager to plan maintenance, support compliance checks and coordinate contractors, contributing to a clean, safe and welcoming environment for residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in maintenance, facilities or a similar role.
• Good knowledge of general repairs, electrical and building maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures.
• A proactive and practical approach.
• Reliable, organised and able to problem solve.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks across the building and grounds, including repairs, inspections, installations and general upkeep.
• Ensure equipment and systems are working safely and efficiently, identifying issues early and taking action.
• Support maintenance planning, compliance checks and contractor coordination with the Home Manager.

Job description

Situated in the leafy residential area of Port Glasgow, we provide Residential and Nursing care for up to 51-residents.

Maintenance Officer Contract

• £13.50 per hour
• Contracted to 40 hours per week
• Paid PVG, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As a Maintenance Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the home remains safe, well maintained and fully operational at all times. This is a hands on role with responsibility, where your practical skills and proactive approach will directly support the safety, comfort and overall environment.

You will carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks across the building and grounds, including repairs, inspections, installations and general upkeep. You will ensure equipment and systems are working safely and efficiently, identifying issues early and taking appropriate action.

Working closely with the Home Manager and wider team, you will support maintenance planning, compliance checks and contractor coordination where required. You will help maintain a well organised, safe and fully functional environment, ensuring all work is carried out in line with health and safety standards.
