Job summary

Loughborough College Group is seeking a Maintenance Officer based at Loughborough College to join a busy Estates department. The role covers planned and reactive maintenance with a focus on compliance and security, operating a rotational shift pattern across early and late shifts.

You will support a proactive maintenance service, work flexibly including occasional weekend cover for events, and contribute to delivering maintenance that meets KPIs and SLAs while maintaining strong relationships

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a maintenance or construction trade.
  • Experience working to key performance targets (KPIs) and SLAs.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team with clear instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine compliance checks (legionella monitoring, emergency lighting tests, fire alarm testing, and portable appliance testing).
  • Open/secure college buildings and respond to security call-outs.
  • Deliver reactive and planned maintenance meeting KPIs and SLAs.
  • Provide rapid response to emergencies and liaise with emergency services.
  • Drive and maintain college vehicles and support traffic management.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance officer to join our team at Loughborough College Group, based at Loughborough College.

We are seeking a enthusiastic and experienced Maintenance Officer to join our busy customer focused Estates departments.

You will support a proactive maintenance service which meets the needs of the college now and in the future, by being innovate in its approach to planned and reactive maintenance. You will be responsible for general maintenance supporting all aspects of the estates department.

The post holder requires flexibility to work a rotational shift pattern.

Working 37.5 hours per week over 5 days. The shifts are rotated between the team, 05.45 to 13.45 and 13.45 to 21.45. Whilst your main days of work will be Monday-Friday, you will be required to work an occasional Saturday or Sunday to cover events such as open days.

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Support the opening and securing of college buildings and respond to security call‑outs.
  • Deliver reactive and planned maintenance, ensuring work meets KPIs and SLAs
  • Provide rapid response to emergencies, liaising with emergency services when required
  • Drive and maintain college vehicles, support traffic and parking management

  • Proven and extensive experience of working in a maintenance or construction trade
  • Experience of working to key performance targets
  • The ability to work independently using initiative or as a part of a team with clear instruction
  • The ability to maintain good relationships with staff at a range of levels by behaving with integrity, treating people with respect and leading by example
