Job summary

Village Hotel Sheffield is opening a brand-new property and seeks a proactive Maintenance Manager to own the facilities from day zero. You will commission equipment, sign off handovers, set up maintenance schedules, and prepare the site for the first guest.

You will lead a maintenance team, manage contractor relations, cost control, and uphold health, safety, and compliance across the site, including guest bedrooms, public areas, gym, and kitchens.

Responsibilities

• First: The Pre-Opening Setup & Commissioning. Inspect plant machinery, sign off on handovers, establish emergency protocols, set up preventative maintenance schedules.
• Second: Contractor Relations & Cost Control. Build relationships with suppliers, negotiate service contracts, manage budget and parts inventory.
• Third: The Floor, The Team & The Standard. Lead maintenance team after opening, handle rapid fixes, ensure safety/compliance across site.

Maintenance Manager: Brand New Opening (Village Hotel Sheffield)

There is nothing quite like the buzz of opening a brand new hotel. Everything is immaculate, fresh, and completely untouched. We are opening Village Hotel Sheffield, and we need a skilled, proactive Maintenance Manager to take total ownership of our property, plant, and facilities from day zero.

Just to be crystal clear on timelines: You will officially start with us in January, well before the doors open, giving you the time and space to commission equipment, walk the plant rooms, set up compliance schedules, and test every system before the very first guest arrives.

Your Remit: How You Will Run It

You are not inheriting someone else's botched fixes or neglected equipment. You are taking charge of brand-new, state-of-the-art facilities and keeping them in pristine condition. As our master of all trades - you will lead from the front, overseeing everything from guest bedrooms and public areas to our gym, leisure club, and commercial kitchens.

To make this opening a massive success, here is exactly how you will need to sequence your focus:

• First: The Pre-Opening Setup & Commissioning. Starting in January, you will get under the bonnet of the new building. You will inspect plant machinery, sign off on handovers, establish emergency and security protocols, and set up your planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules so the building runs like clockwork from hour one.

• Second: Contractor Relations & Cost Control. You will establish direct relationships with suppliers and external contractors, negotiating cost-effective service contracts without cutting corners on quality or safety. You will manage your budget with commercial grit, sourcing parts efficiently and keeping spare inventories fully controlled.

• Third: The Floor, The Team & The Standard. Once we open, you will lead and motivate your maintenance team to maintain day-one perfection. You will lead rapid-response fixes in guest rooms, ensure leisure and plant equipment run smoothly, collaborate with department heads, and uphold strict health, safety, and compliance standards across the site.
