Job description

Maintenance Manager

£70k plus package

Suffolk

Maintenance Manager role with significant capital expenditure planned over the next few years.

Engaged Senior Leadership Team – they are actively involved, your voice will be heard.

What makes a Maintenance Manager look for a new job? Progression, a site with planned cap ex over the next few years, a site led by an SLT who actively listen and are engaged, a challenge, something new, concerns over their current employer’s market position? We think this role, sitting firmly in the FMCG sector, offers an engineering candidate with the right background, a move to a business with longevity, multiple channels in terms of market and customer and a product category that has excellent future growth.

The actual role itself is managing a small team and that team needs a manager who can work on their development and training and ensure they all continue their own individual and team growth. Good work has been done but there is more to do to ensure the engineering function in this business collaborate fully and are intertwined with operations, supply chain and technical for the operation to be as effective and run as smoothly as possible.

The main elements of this role are:

  • Team leadership – heading up maintenance engineers, providing direction, educating and training and being that manager who leads the team as well as being part of it.
  • Ensuring the Maintenance strategy is well communicated, constantly up-to-date and refined as the business objectives and challenges change.
  • CMMS Integration: To track and manage maintenance activities, and ensure all PPM is scheduled through the CMMS.
  • To create and manage the maintenance budgets including costings, resource allocation and procurement of spare parts.
  • Equipment Reliability! This is always top of the agenda for any maintenance manager – working with Production, Planning, Technical, Supply Chain and Hygiene to improve reliability and performance of equipment.
  • As always, promote a strong safety culture ensuring all work it undertaken in accordance with safety regulations
  • Continuous Improvement is always on the list to keep ahead, look for the most optimum ways of working and be as effective and lean as possible.

This role needs a a good leader of teams who can gain respect by listening, training, collaborating and allowing growth through accountability. Building a team of maintenance engineers who are inquisitive, can communicate and be proactive in nature as well as dealing with the unexpected as always happens in any factory environment.

What experience do you need in your background?

  • Proven experience in maintenance management in a manufacturing or logistics environment – ideally FMCG.
  • Strong leadership and people management with a focus on team development.
  • Proficiency in CMMS and a good understanding of planned and preventative maintenance.
  • A collaborative approach, proven skills in building a team culture with the other functions.
  • Well-rounded communication and problem-solving skills.

There are always engineering roles at leadership level in the industry but we truly believe this is a unique role for someone so let’s start the process – send over your cv or enquiry to Sarah in the Novus Team. We work your hours so out of hours initial interviews are no problem.
