Job summary

Hexcel is seeking a Maintenance Manager for our Duxford, UK site to lead maintenance across in-house and outsourced activities, ensuring safety and adherence to standards.

You will develop the maintenance team, manage budgets, optimise preventive and predictive maintenance, investigate root causes, and drive improvements in reliability and uptime.

The role requires engineering qualification and extensive manufacturing experience, with strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification required (apprenticeship/HNC/HND/degree or equivalent).
• Significant maintenance management experience in manufacturing or regulated environments.
• Proven people management and leadership skills.
• Health, Safety and Environmental qualification (IOSH/NEBOSH) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of CMMS, maintenance planning and preventive maintenance programmes.
• Experience managing contractors and service-level agreements.
• Good understanding of UK statutory compliance relating to manufacturing facilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead in-house and outsourced maintenance activities, ensuring safety and compliance with policies and standards.
• Develop, lead and mentor the maintenance team including recruitment and training.
• Manage external contractors and service providers to meet standards and business objectives.
• Develop and continuously improve preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance strategies to maximise uptime.
• Monitor equipment performance and KPIs, driving improvements in reliability and efficiency.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Identify obsolescence risks and develop replacement and maintenance plans.
• Manage maintenance budgets and report cost and performance with Finance.
• Ensure CMMS records and asset information are accurate.
• Work with cross-functional teams on CI projects, installations and audits.

Hexcel is currently seeking a Maintenance Manager for our Duxford, UK location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

• Lead all in-house and outsourced maintenance activities, ensuring work is carried out safely and in compliance with company policies, statutory requirements and site engineering standards.
• Manage, lead and develop the maintenance team, including recruitment, performance management, training and development.
• Manage external contractors and service providers, ensuring performance against agreed standards, service levels and business objectives.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance strategies to maximise equipment reliability and uptime.
• Monitor equipment performance, departmental KPIs and machine uptime, driving improvements in maintenance efficiency, reliability and team performance.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis investigations, ensuring appropriate corrective and preventative actions are identified and implemented.
• Identify equipment obsolescence risks and develop appropriate replacement, lifecycle and maintenance plans.
• Manage maintenance operating budgets and project expenditure, working with Finance to ensure accurate cost and performance reporting.
• Ensure maintenance activities, statutory inspections, asset information and records are accurately maintained within the CMMS and supporting systems.
• Work cross-functionally to support continuous improvement, capital investment projects, equipment installations, commissioning, calibration and audit requirements.

Qualifications:

• Recognised engineering qualification, such as an apprenticeship, HNC/HND, degree or equivalent.
• Significant maintenance management experience within a manufacturing or regulated environment, including experience managing shift-based teams.
• Demonstrable people management and leadership experience, with the ability to develop and motivate teams.
• Health, Safety and Environmental qualification, such as IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH or equivalent.
• Strong technical understanding of mechanical, electrical and facilities maintenance systems.
• Experience managing contractors, outsourced maintenance providers and service-level agreements.
• Strong knowledge of CMMS systems, maintenance planning principles and preventative maintenance programmes.
• Good understanding of UK statutory compliance requirements relating to manufacturing facilities and equipment.
• Excellent communication, organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Desirable experience or qualifications in Root Cause Analysis, Project Management, Lean/Continuous Improvement and/or reliability-centred maintenance.
