Job summary

MAC Recruit Group Ltd in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead a complex power generation facility. You will be responsible for safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of the plant's maintenance strategy, overseeing planned and reactive activities and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

The role requires leading a multidisciplinary team, driving improvements in reliability and outages, coordinating shutdowns, and managing budgets, spares and contractor

Qualifications

• Experience leading multidisciplinary maintenance teams in heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical plant and equipment.
• Experience with boilers, steam systems and/or steam turbines is advantageous.
• Proven ability to plan, schedule and manage outages safely.
• Experience with CMMS and maintenance management systems.

Job description

Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

An established power generation business is looking to appoint an experienced Maintenance Manager to join a complex operational facility in Birmingham.

This is a key site leadership position with responsibility for the safe, reliable and cost-effective delivery of the plant's maintenance strategy. You will lead a multidisciplinary maintenance function, overseeing planned and reactive maintenance, plant reliability, outages, contractors and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary maintenance team.


• Manage planned, preventative and reactive maintenance activities across the facility.


• Develop and optimise the site's maintenance strategy and CMMS.


• Drive improvements in plant reliability, availability and equipment performance.


• Monitor maintenance KPIs, recurring failures and maintenance backlog, implementing corrective actions where required.


• Plan and coordinate shutdowns and major maintenance outages.


• Manage external contractors and specialist service providers.


• Lead and support root cause analysis for recurring plant and equipment failures.


• Manage maintenance budgets, costs, spares and resources effectively.


• Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with relevant procedures and legislation.


• Work closely with Operations and other site functions to maximise plant performance and availability.


• Ensure compliance with relevant statutory and engineering requirements, including PSSR, LOLER and COSHH.


• Support continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance and engineering.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Maintenance Manager, Engineering Manager or in a similar maintenance leadership position within a complex industrial environment.


• Experience within power generation or a comparable heavy/process industry.


• Strong understanding of planned, preventative and reactive maintenance.


• Experience managing and developing multidisciplinary maintenance teams.


• Strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical plant and equipment.


• Previous experience with boilers, steam systems and/or steam turbines would be highly advantageous.


• Experience managing maintenance contractors, shutdowns and major outages.


• Strong understanding of plant reliability, root cause analysis and continuous improvement.


• Experience working with CMMS/maintenance management systems.


• Strong health, safety and compliance awareness within a heavy industrial environment.


• Knowledge of relevant statutory requirements and engineering compliance.


• Relevant engineering qualification or demonstrable equivalent industry experience.
