Job summary

John Lewis Partnership is establishing a new Regional Distribution Centre in Avonmouth and seeks an experienced maintenance leader to drive readiness for Q4 2026. You will lead a multi-skilled team, champion safety, and own delivery of maintenance strategies across the site.

The role requires strong leadership, stakeholder management, and adherence to compliance and safety governance. Flexible working may be discussed as part of the package.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in retail or distribution maintenance with proven success leading multi-skilled teams.
• Strong leadership with focus on process development, motivation, and stakeholder management.
• Comprehensive knowledge of site safety (H&S legislation, Legionella, LOLER, PUWER, Fire Safety) and audits.
• Technical expertise in CDM, Building Management Systems, and CAFM platforms (OPUZ for PPM/reactive works).
• Time-served Electrician or HVAC qualification with NEBOSH or equivalent safety certification.
• Analytical and detail-oriented with strong reporting, procurement, and supplier management skills.

Responsibilities

• Support FMDM in delivering the maintenance business plan for their area of responsibility.
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, contractors and service providers for cost-effective maintenance delivery.
• Create and maintain a culture of high performance with ownership, safety and customer service standards.
• Ensure compliance, safety and assurance requirements and conduct audits on internal and contractor works.
• Lead, coach and develop engineering technicians and tradesmen to high standards and safety governance.
• Support budget control for revenue and planning for capital spend across areas of responsibility.
• Oversee timely delivery of all compliance, safety and PPM activities with proper documentation.
• Ensure all maintenance projects are delivered safely.
• Support the Partnership carbon reduction programme.
