Job summary

Kara Healthcare in the East Midlands is seeking an experienced Maintenance Lead to support six care homes. This hands-on, mobile role focuses on keeping homes safe, compliant, and well-maintained for residents and care teams, with occasional emergency call-outs.

You will perform general maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, basic electrical work, grounds care, and compliance checks, while prioritising tasks across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Solid maintenance experience across a range of trades.
• Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
• Confidently prioritise tasks across multiple sites.
• Experience in care homes, housing, education, facilities management, or similar environments.
• Pride in delivering quality work and practical solutions.
• Organised, reliable and proactive in approach.
• Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to own vehicle.

Responsibilities

• General maintenance and repairs across all six homes.
• Plumbing repairs including leaks and routine maintenance.
• Carpentry work for doors, fixtures, fittings and minor structural repairs.
• Basic electrical maintenance (non-qualified) including lighting, switches and sockets.
• Grounds and garden maintenance to keep outdoor areas safe and presentable.
• Water testing and compliance checks per company procedures.
• Decorating and caretaking duties; general upkeep of buildings and facilities.
• Respond promptly to maintenance issues and ensure high standards of work.
