Job summary

Kara Healthcare is seeking an experienced Maintenance Operative to support our elderly care homes across the East Midlands and surrounding areas. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance, ensure health and safety compliance, and uphold high standards for residents and staff.

You will carry out general maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, decorating, and carpentry, maintain records, and report major issues to approved contractors.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, or similar roles.
• Practical experience in plumbing and basic electrical maintenance.
• Experience with PAT testing or willingness to undertake training.
• Ability to travel between care home sites (driving licence).

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and repair work across multiple care home sites.
• Undertake basic plumbing repairs and maintenance.
• Complete basic electrical maintenance, including replacing light bulbs and fuses.
• Perform carpentry repairs to doors, locks, furniture, fixtures and fittings.
• Complete decorating, painting and general upkeep tasks.
• Carry out routine health and safety inspections.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports and compliance documentation.
• Identify and report larger maintenance issues requiring specialist contractors.
