Job summary

Aspris Children's Services is seeking a compassionate Maintenance Assistant to join our Estates team at Talocher School in Wales. You’ll help maintain the school and residential homes to a high standard, keep grounds tidy, and ensure sites are safe and welcoming for children and staff.

You’ll coordinate works with external contractors, monitor maintenance compliance, and support health and safety so we stay audit-ready. A friendly, proactive approach with good teamwork will help you thrive here.

Qualifications

• Keen eye for detail and ability to prioritise tasks.
• Ability to work independently with initiative.
• Good basic numeracy and literacy skills.
• Friendly, customer‑focused approach with strong teamwork.
• Experience in building, plumbing, mechanical or electrical maintenance would be a bonus, but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the school and homes are maintained to a high standard.
• Keep sites safe, welcoming, and looking their best.
• Maintain grounds to a high standard.
• Coordinate works by external contractors.
• Oversee quality of maintenance works and ensure safety compliance.
• Support health & safety and keep records audit-ready.
• Take a pro‑active hands‑on approach to keep everything running smoothly.
