Job summary

Mears Group PLC in Manchester is seeking a General Operative to join our Repairs and Maintenance team. This hands-on role involves installing fixtures, painting, cleaning, and helping maintain our properties to a high standard while delivering excellent customer service.

You’ll work 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a permanent, full-time contract and a salary up to £32,523.75 per year plus a company van and fuel card.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of housing maintenance and repairs.
• Willingness to travel.
• Ability to work in a team and independently.
• Good communication skills.
• Full UK driving license.

Responsibilities

• Install fixtures such as curtains, blinds and door handles with attention to detail.
• Carry out painting and decorating tasks with strong presentation.
• Support cleaning and waste collection duties and learn new skills.
• Collaborate within the Repairs and Maintenance team with reliability.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, residents and service users.
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality and cost control.
