Job summary

Professional Technical Ltd is seeking a Maintenance Facilities Engineer for their new Leicestershire facility. The role operates regular days on a 37.7-hour week with core hours 10am–4pm, offering a salary up to £43k plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will join a team of five engineers and contribute to reactive maintenance, routine scheduling, and contractor oversight while pursuing continuous improvement and training.

Qualifications

  • Apprentice trained - City & Guilds level 3 or HNC in Mechanical Engineering
  • Post-apprenticeship experience in a facilities or maintenance environment
  • Background in a highly regulated industry is essential (Pharm, Healthcare, FMCG)
  • Experienced Mechanical bias with electrical competencies
  • Experience using document control/maintenance management systems
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office packages (including Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Responsibilities

  • Comply with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements in line with policy and procedures; provide reactive engineering support and perform day-to-day tasks
  • Manage and complete routine maintenance schedules
  • Supervise, coordinate and work with external contractors
  • Engage in change control activities and processes
  • Manage mechanical and some electrical breakdowns to optimise plant performance
  • Promote continuous improvement to enhance plant performance
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all work
  • Participate in training and development opportunities for engineers

Job description

An established pharmaceutical business has a new requirement for a Mechanical bias Maintenance Facilities Engineer to join the business. This position has been created due to someone retiring from the business. The company is an award-winning company who has been established for over 50 years and employs circa to 5000 people worldwide. They have an impressive new facility in Leicestershire where now it employs circa to 75 people, but they are looking to seriously expand on this into 2026/27. The position is working regular days 37.7-hour contract, core hours are 10am to 4pm with flexible working. This is a rare opportunity for a Maintenance Facilities Engineer to join the business on regular days. Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will be joining a team of 5 Engineers.

Responsibilities of the Maintenance Facilities Engineer:

  • To comply with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements within the business in line with the Health & Safety Policy and Procedures, e.g. Work Instructions, Risk Assessments and Safe Systems. To provide reactive engineering support and other functions within the business providing you with a variety of day-to-day task.
  • The management and completion of routine maintenance schedules.
  • To supervise, co-ordinate and work alongside external contractors.
  • Exposure to change control activities and processes.
  • To manage efficiently mechanical & some electrical breakdowns to optimise plant efficiency and productivity.
  • Promote continuous improvement processes to develop and improve plant performance.
  • To maintain accurate and detailed records of all work carried out.
  • Participate in your development as an engineer by attending all training requirements.

Requirements of the Maintenance Facilities Engineer:

  • Apprentice trained - City & Guilds level 3 or HNC in Mechanical Engineering
  • Post-apprenticeship experience in a facilities or maintenance environment.

  • Some facilities experience is highly advantageous but not essential
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office packages (including Word, Excel, and Outlook)
