Job summary

Hexcel is seeking a Maintenance Engineer at our Leicester, UK site. The role focuses on owning the PPM program, improving maintenance schedules, and providing hands-on fault diagnosis and repair coordination to maximise equipment availability.

The candidate will ensure compliance with PUWER, LOLER, and HSE standards, supervise contractors, maintain records, and lead root-cause investigations to enhance reliability. A mechanical/electrical background with HNC/HND is preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven maintenance engineering experience in mechanical, electrical, or multi-skilled roles.
• Experience managing PPM systems and schedules.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements in engineering environments.
• Excellent fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience coordinating contractors and external suppliers.
• Organizational and planning skills in fast-paced settings.
• Proactive, hands-on, and able to work independently with attention to procedures.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) program for pilot plant equipment.
• Develop and improve maintenance schedules to maximize availability and reliability.
• Provide hands-on support for breakdowns and coordinate timely repairs.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, procedures, and regulations.
• Collaborate with R&D to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption.
• Maintain maintenance records and reports for compliance and improvement.
• Manage external service providers and spare parts inventory.
• Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
