Job summary

Places for People seeks a Maintenance Engineer Plumber to support the upkeep of our student accommodation sites. You will carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond to reactive plumbing issues, ensuring work meets safety standards and service levels.

This permanent, on-site role is five days a week with hours 9am to 6pm. A basic DBS check is mandatory, and NVQ 2/3 in Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent) is required.

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent).
  • Experience in maintenance plumbing (commercial/FM preferred).
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of water systems, drainage and pipework.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to reactive plumbing issues.
  • Ensure all works meet performance requirements and service standards.
  • Work on-site five days a week with 9am–6pm hours.

More about your role:

We are looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer Plumber on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will support the upkeep of our student accommodation sites, ensuring all plumbing maintenance is carried out safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

On a daily basis, you will be responsible for completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and responding to reactive plumbing issues, ensuring all works are completed in line with performance requirements and service standards.

This role is 5 days a week on site with working hours of 9am - 6pm with 1 hour lunch.

More about you:

The successful candidate will have experience in a plumbing maintenance role and possess the relevant qualifications. You'll be a proactive problem solver with a strong customer focus and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

The successful candidate will have:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent)
  • Experience in maintenance plumbing (commercial/FM preferred)

Desirable: experience with heating systems, Gas Safe registration, or experience within student accommodation or facilities management.
