Job summary

Places for People is hiring a Maintenance Technician to carry out repairs in social housing and communal areas. You’ll work in occupied and void properties, supporting kitchens, bathrooms and boilers, while maintaining health and safety standards.

Role includes travelling in a company van, independent or team-based work, and maintaining high-quality, compliant workmanship. Successful candidates are home-based in the PE area with a valid UK driving licence.

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Based within the PE postcode area.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out general repairs in properties and communal areas.
  • Complete work in occupied and void properties including cleaning and maintenance.
  • Support installation work such as kitchens, bathrooms, and boilers.
  • Work to specifications and ensure health and safety compliance.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, schedulers, and wider teams to meet deadlines.
  • Record work activity and maintain accurate documentation.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Carrying out general repairs in properties and communal areas
  • Completing work in both occupied and void properties including cleaning and maintenance
  • Supporting installation work such as kitchens, bathrooms, and boilers
  • Working to specifications and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements
  • Collaborating with supervisors, schedulers, and wider teams to meet deadlines
  • Recording work activity and maintaining accurate documentation
What Your Day Looks Like
  • A structured schedule covering repairs and maintenance work
  • Travelling between jobs in your company van
  • Working independently or with a team of other tradespeople
  • Engaging directly with Customers in their homes
  • Completing work efficiently while maintaining quality and compliance standards

Essential Criteria (you need to meet all of these to be shortlisted)
  • Experience carrying out general repairs, ideally within social housing
  • Ability to prioritise a varied workload and meet deadlines#
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Due to the area this patch covers, you will need to be based within the PE postcode
Nice To Have (not Essential)
  • Experience supporting installations such as kitchens, bathrooms, or boilers
  • Experience working within a social housing environment
