Job summary

InPost is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for our Wednesbury Distribution Centre to service and optimise our Mechanical Handling Equipment and related systems. You will perform preventative maintenance on conveyors, diagnose faults, and lead repairs to minimise downtime while supporting sortation and delivery operations.

You will bring an engineering background with a Level 3 qualification and demonstrable experience in mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis, PLC systems, and BS 7671

Qualifications

• Level 3 engineering qualification (HNC / City & Guilds or equivalent) is required.
• Proven experience diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults.
• Experience with PLC control systems (Modicon and Siemens).
• Familiarity with BS 7671 wiring regulations.
• Experience in industrial/commercial electrical installations.
• Ability to work safely at heights up to 20 metres.
• IOSH trained or equivalent.
• Proficiency with drilling, grinding tools and gasless MIG welding.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular inspections and preventative maintenance on conveyor belts and sortation systems.
• Respond to breakdowns, diagnosing faults and carrying out timely repairs.
• Replace or repair faulty components and reset systems to keep equipment running.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures.
• Identify and recommend improvements to boost equipment reliability and performance.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
• Mentor junior technicians and apprentices as needed.
