Job summary

Aliaxis UK is seeking a Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical) to join our Huntingdon site. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance on manufacturing plant, diagnose faults, and drive reliability improvements.

The role operates on a 12-hour Panama shift with a salary of £51,275.08 plus £9,400 shift allowance. Candidates should hold NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and have experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, conveyors and CMMS.

Qualifications

• Maintenance experience in manufacturing environment.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills in mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Ability to read technical drawings and electrical schematics.
• NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, bearings, rotating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned and reactive maintenance on manufacturing plant and equipment.
• Diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and implement preventative maintenance to maximise reliability.
• Ensure maintenance work complies with health, safety, environmental, and company standards including LOTOTO.
• Support continuous improvement and root cause analysis initiatives to enhance performance and asset reliability.
• Contribute to major maintenance shutdowns, equipment installations, and engineering projects with the wider team.

The Opportunity/Role

• Perform planned and reactive maintenance activities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of manufacturing plant and equipment.
• Diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and implement preventative maintenance to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
• Ensure all maintenance work is completed in compliance with health, safety, environmental, and company standards, including isolation and LOTOTO procedures.
• Support continuous improvement and root cause analysis initiatives to enhance operational performance, productivity, and asset reliability.
• Contribute to major maintenance shutdowns, equipment installations, and engineering projects while working collaboratively across the wider manufacturing team.

Shift & Pay

12 hour Panama shift pattern (inclusive of 12 hours day, night and weekend shifts)

Salary: £51,275.08 per annum + £9,400 shift allowance

Requirements

• Strong mechanical maintenance experience gained within a manufacturing environment, with basic electrical fault-finding capability.
• Knowledge of machinery safety, machine guarding, and safe working practices.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, engineering diagrams, and electrical schematics.
• Proven fault-finding and problem-solving skills across mechanical and electrical equipment.
• NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship (or equivalent multi-skilled apprenticeship).
• Experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, bearings, and rotating equipment.
• Proficient in using CMMS and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Proactive, self-motivated approach with a focus on continuous improvement and equipment reliability.
