Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR seeks a reliable Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Multi-Skilled) to join our Eye, Suffolk site. You will keep production lines running via proactive PPM and rapid breakdown response, with an electrical bias welcomed if you have strong mechanical skills.

The role operates Panama shifts (12-hour days and nights). You will troubleshoot, repair and service heavy automated equipment, support with minor electrical tasks, and contribute to improvements while maintaining logs in our

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes and power transmission.
• Cross-skilling: electrically qualified engineers with hands-on mechanical capability encouraged.
• Experience in manufacturing, production or heavy industrial settings.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on heavy/automated production machinery and plant equipment.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Perform mechanical repairs including bearings, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps and drive systems.
• Support minor electrical repairs and isolation where competent to do so.
• Assist with equipment installations, continuous improvement projects and site modifications.
• Maintain clear logs of maintenance activities using the internal system.

Location: Eye, Suffolk (near Ipswich)

Shift Pattern: Panama Shift - 2 weeks Days (8am - 8pm) / 2 weeks Nights (8pm - 8am)

Salary: £51,000

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our site engineering team in Eye, Suffolk.

In this role, you will keep production lines running at peak performance through proactive planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and rapid breakdown response. While the position is mechanically focused, we welcome applications from electrically biased candidates who possess strong mechanical skills.

Shift Structure

This position operates on a Panama shift pattern working 12-hour shifts (8:00 AM - 8:00 PM / 8:00 PM - 8:00 AM):

• 2 Weeks Days / 2 Weeks Nights
• Enjoy predictable working hours with built-in time off every other weekend.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on heavy/automated production machinery and plant equipment.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical breakdowns to minimize downtime.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

• Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent C&G / ONC / Apprenticeship) in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Skill Set: Strong mechanical aptitude (hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmission, gearboxes, alignment).
• Cross-Skilled Candidates: Electrically qualified engineers with proven hands‑on mechanical competence are encouraged to apply.
• Experience: Previous experience working within a manufacturing, production, or heavy industrial setting.
• Shift Readiness: Fully comfortable working a rotating Panama day/night shift structure.
