Job summary

Roche's Motherwell Center of Excellence in Scotland seeks a Maintenance Engineer to sustain the production of diagnostic sensors in a high-precision cleanroom, ensuring reliability and safety of complex manufacturing equipment.

You will balance preventative maintenance with rapid troubleshooting, work within GMP/ISO cleanroom standards, and collaborate across Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to deliver patient-safe, world-class diagnostics.

Qualifications

• Education: College or degree qualification in an appropriate engineering discipline, or significant equivalent hands-on work experience.
• Industry Experience: Hands-on maintenance engineer in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably medical devices.
• Core Knowledge: GMP frameworks experience and understanding.
• Technical Expertise: Diagnosing mechanical and electrical systems; familiarity with cleanroom equipment.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with urgency and a quality-first mindset.
• Digital Literacy: Proficient with CMMS and technical documentation.
• Collaboration: Proactive, cross-functional teamwork across departments.
• Licensing: Full, clean UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Preventative maintenance programs on advanced production equipment to maximize uptime.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic failures in a medical device setting.
• Maintain records per ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, and GxP to keep equipment validated.
• Support IQ/OQ/PQ protocols for new or modified machinery.
• Identify equipment improvements to increase OEE and productivity.
• Update manufacturing documents, risk assessments, and change controls.
• Adhere to SHE protocols including LOTO and cleanroom gowning procedures.
• Manage inventory levels and oversee third-party contractor visits with RAMS reviews.
• Collaborate with Sensor Production Team, Process/Eq Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and SHE.
