Job summary

IFF is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for the Beaminster site to ensure safe, efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and maximise plant availability. You will perform planned maintenance, diagnose faults, and support continuous improvement across utilities and process equipment.

Ideal candidates will have experience in regulated manufacturing environments, strong fault-finding skills, and a mechanical/electrical engineering background with a relevant NVQ/HNC/HND.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in an engineering/maintenance role within manufacturing (food, pharma, or similar highly regulated environment preferred).
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills (electrical and/or mechanical).
• Good understanding of PPM systems and maintenance best practices.
• Experience working with pumps, valves, filtration systems (UF/MF), and process equipment is beneficial.
• Awareness of food safety and hygiene standards (GMP).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to reactive breakdowns across site equipment and utilities.
• Diagnose faults and implement effective, timely repairs to minimize downtime.
• Support production teams in maintaining optimal plant performance and resolving operational issues.
• Ensure all engineering work is carried out in line with site safety procedures, permit systems, and food safety requirements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation (CMMS, where applicable).
• Support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives (reliability, efficiency, cost reduction).
• Assist with installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment or modifications (MOC process).
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards (HSE, GMP, environmental controls).
• Work collaboratively with Operations, Quality, and EHS teams.
• Support audits and inspections as required.
