An exciting new role within our Property Function! We are seeking a skilled and motivated Automation Technician to join our team. In this role, you will prioritize maintaining and repairing brand-new equipment, applying your technical expertise to ensure outstanding performance and continuous improvement. A passion for customer service is essential, as you will understand the impact of your decisions and the efficiency of your maintenance work, operating within your training and experience to ensure a safe environment for all.

You will maintain and repair cutting-edge equipment in your nominated Urban Fulfilment Centre (UFC), utilizing your experience and technical knowledge. You will ensure that equipment runs in its optimum state through regular formal and informal inspections, completing maintenance tasks in accordance with good engineering practice, and striving to improve the equipment where possible.

We know life looks different for each of us. That’s why at Tesco, we always welcome discussions about flexible working. Some people are at the start of their careers, some want the freedom to do the things they love, and others are going through life-changing moments. Please talk to the Hiring Manager about how they can support you.

You will be responsible for:

  1. Completing maintenance to an excellent standard, ensuring items needing rectification are either immediately repaired or logged and scheduled for revisiting.
  2. Operating with safety in mind at all times, dynamically risk-assessing all jobs to ensure safety for yourself and others.
  3. Building effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders from all departments, supporting operational colleagues where possible.
  4. Supervising site performance to ensure efficient operation, understanding terms like availability and performance, and utilizing various means to measure these.
  5. Being proactive with timekeeping, providing value within working hours, encouraging others, and seeking continuous improvement.
  6. Documenting findings for major breakdowns/outages using root cause analysis methods.
  7. Supporting site maintenance budget adherence through a no-waste approach, repairing and testing equipment for future use where possible.
  8. Maintaining accurate CMMS records and completing shift reports to a high standard.
  9. Supporting site budget management by tracking spares and hours used.

You will need:

  • Hands-on experience working within an engineering/maintenance department on highly automated equipment.
  • Electrical/mechanical cross-skill training.
  • Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to analyze and present data for timely decisions.
  • Influencing skills and high standards.

What's in it for you:

We prioritize your wellbeing with our benefits package, including:

  • Annual bonus scheme of up to 10% of base salary.
  • Holiday entitlement starting at 25 days plus a personal day and bank holidays.
  • 26 weeks maternity and adoption leave (after 1 year’s service) at full pay, plus 6 weeks fully paid paternity leave.
  • Free 24/7 virtual GP service, Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), and mental wellbeing support.
