Job summary

Thistle Seafoods Ltd in Scotland is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to support planned and preventive maintenance, resolve machine breakdowns, and contribute to site improvement initiatives. You will work on processing plant machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Two shift patterns are available: a 4-on, 4-off dayshift or a Monday–Friday backshift. You should have a formal engineering qualification (City and Guilds/ONC/HNC) and strong fault-finding skills, with experience in

Qualifications

• Formal engineering qualification to City and Guilds level, ONC/HNC or equivalent
• Strong maintenance background with analytical fault-finding skills
• Knowledge of maintenance of modern processing plant machinery
• Experience with food processing equipment desirable
• Ability to read electrical diagrams and work with motors, inverters, PLCs

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop PPMs (planned and preventive maintenance)
• Resolve machine breakdowns to maximise line efficiency
• Assist in engineering projects to improve efficiencies
• Participate in site improvement and reliability initiatives
• Ensure practices meet Health and Safety and Food Safety standards

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

• Responsibility for planned and preventative maintenance and development of PPM's where possible.
• Resolve machine breakdowns to ensure maximum line efficiency of the production process.
• Assist in engineering projects to improve efficiencies.
• Participating in department and site improvement and reliability initiatives.
• Responsibility for ensuring current practices meet Health and Safety and Food Safety standards, and where possible that they exceed requirements.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Formal engineering qualification to at least City and Guilds level, ONC/HNC level or equivalent or extensive experience working as an engineer in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong maintenance background with well-developed analytical fault-finding skills.
• Knowledge and experience of the maintenance of modern processing plant machinery would be preferred.
• Previous experience of food processing equipment is desirable but not essential.
• The ability to use electrical test equipment, read schematic diagrams with experience in single and 3 phase installations including motors, inverters, and PLC's (desirable but not essential) (electrical, multi-dis only).
