Department: Packaging


Location: On Site - Mount Park - Eastleigh (SO18 2FA)


Working hours: 7am - 7pm (Blue Shift), 4 days on 4 days off

Job summary - What to expect:

As a Maintenance Engineer in our Engineering and Maintenance department, you will support our Packaging sites by maintaining equipment and ensuring efficient repairs and breakdown responses.


Key responsibilities:
  • Respond to assistance requests, diagnose issues, and implement solutions, prioritizing based on workload and process priorities.
  • Record all process changes and repairs using established methods.
  • Coordinate with other engineers or external contractors for investigations or resolutions.
  • Identify and order suitable replacement parts from suppliers, ensuring specifications and availability.
  • Log daily maintenance activities in the CVM system, perform planned maintenance, and confirm equipment functioning.
  • Train operators in routine maintenance tasks for safety and efficiency.
  • Monitor production to ensure safety guards and interlocks are operational.
  • Provide engineering support during project design, equipment build, testing, and commissioning.
  • Identify and report safety or safety-related issues promptly to protect staff and product safety.
Position requirements:
  • Wear protective clothing such as facemasks and gloves as necessary.
  • Handle materials under COSHH guidelines.
  • Climb ladders and work in enclosed spaces within OSR.
  • Kneel and bend to perform maintenance tasks.
Hazardous working conditions:
  • Hydraulic control systems involving mechanical energies.
  • Electrical testing up to lethal voltages with PPE.
  • Handling COSHH-regulated materials.
Experience & Education:
  • Engineering apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical, or electronic engineering.
  • Experience in service or precision engineering, such as toolmaking or instrument engineering.
  • Experience in regulated or FMCG/High-Speed Packaging industries preferred.
  • Maths/English GCSE A-C grade.
