Job summary

VHR Global Technical Recruitment is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a leading engineering and technical services company covering Reading, Berkshire, and surrounding areas. This permanent, full-time role offers excellent training, career development opportunities, a company vehicle, and a competitive salary of £51,000 per annum.

The successful candidate will perform planned maintenance, diagnose faults, install and commission equipment at customer sites, and handle breakdowns

Qualifications

• Experience as Field/Service/Maintenance Engineer or similar.
• Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence & willingness to travel in Reading area.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventative maintenance, servicing, and repairs on specialist equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and/or electrical faults.
• Install and commission new equipment at customer sites.
• Respond to breakdowns and technical service callouts.
• Complete service reports and maintenance documentation accurately.
• Provide professional technical support and customer service.
• Manage a field-based workload across the assigned region.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or similar.
• Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent technical experience.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding skills.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate technical records.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel throughout Reading, Berkshire, and surrounding areas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with specialist equipment.
• Electrical or mechanical engineering qualifications.
• Installation and commissioning experience.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance procedures and technical standards.
