Job summary

TipTopJob is recruiting a Multi-skilled Engineer in Leighton Buzzard for a manufacturing environment. You will be part of a team of engineers supporting production, carrying out planned maintenance and rapid fault-finding to minimise downtime.

The role covers electrical and mechanical diagnostics, PLC fault diagnosis (Siemens and Allen Bradley) and upgrades, with strong emphasis on safety and reliability across varied equipment including conveyors, robots and automation systems.

Qualifications

• Essential multi-skilled engineer with an electrical bias (moving toward a balanced skillset).
• Strong electrical fault-finding capability including PLC I/O diagnostics and networked systems.
• Experience with safety circuits and interlocks in industrial settings.
• Mechanical competency across hydraulics, pneumatics, gears, shafts and bearings.
• Experience in heavier engineering or industrial manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Planned Preventative Maintenance and condition monitoring.
• Electrical and mechanical fault finding on production equipment.
• PLC fault diagnosis (Siemens and Allen Bradley).
• Supporting planned upgrades, installations and improvement projects.
• Diagnosing and resolving technical issues raised by production operatives.
• Working safely and supporting site Health and Safety standards.
• Maintaining uptime across automated and semi-automated processes.

Working as part of a team of 15 engineers to support production by keeping downtime to a minimum.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPMs) and condition monitoring
• Electrical and mechanical fault x2011;finding on production equipment
• PLC fault diagnosis (Siemens and Allen Bradley)
• Supporting planned upgrades, installations, and improvement projects
• Diagnosing and resolving technical issues raised by production operatives
• Working safely and supporting site Health and Safety standards
• Maintaining uptime across automated and semi x2011;automated processes

Equipment and Processes Youll Work On

• Conveyors, elevators, baggers and banders
• Fanuc robots
• Curing ovens and environmental systems
• Plastic injection moulding and strip moulding equipment
• Aluminium extrusion systems
• Silos and bulk handling systems

The manufacturing process involves high x2011;volume production with integrated moulding, cutting, curing, spraying and automated racking systems.

Essential Experience And Skills

• Multi x2011;skilled engineer with a 70/30 electrical bias (moving toward 60/40)
• Strong electrical fault x2011;finding capability, including:
• PLC I/O diagnostics
• Networked systems
• Safety circuits and interlocks
• Mechanical competence across:
• Hydraulics and pneumatics
• Gearboxes, shafts, bearings and drives
• Experience working in heavier engineering or industrial manufacturing
• Confident working in fast x2011;paced, physically demanding environments
• Able to work independently and within a team to resolve breakdowns efficiently

Desirable (Not Essential)

• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
• Electrical testing and inspection experience
• Welding or fabrication skills
