Job summary

Hunter Selection is seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer for a manufacturing environment in the United Kingdom. You will join a team of engineers to support production by keeping downtime to a minimum, covering both electrical and mechanical fault-finding, PLC diagnostics, and support for upgrades and projects.

The role requires strong fault-finding skills, experience with Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs, hydraulics and pneumatics, and a proactive approach to safety and uptime in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Multi-skilled engineer with a 70/30 electrical bias (moving toward 60/40).
• Strong electrical fault-finding capability, including PLC I/O diagnostics, networked systems, safety circuits and interlocks.
• Mechanical competence across hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, shafts, bearings and drives.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform Preventative Maintenance (PPMs) and condition monitoring.
• Fault-find Electrical and mechanical faults on production equipment.
• Diagnose PLC faults (Siemens & Allen Bradley) and support upgrades and improvements.
• Support planned upgrades, installations, and improvement projects.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues raised by production operatives.
• Work safely and uphold site Health & Safety standards.
• Maintain uptime across automated and semi-automated processes.

Working as part of a team of 15 engineers to support production by keeping downtime to a minimum.

Key responsibilities include:

• Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPMs) and condition monitoring
• Electrical and mechanical fault‑finding on production equipment
• PLC fault diagnosis (Siemens & Allen Bradley)
• Supporting planned upgrades, installations, and improvement projects
• Diagnosing and resolving technical issues raised by production operatives
• Working safely and supporting site Health & Safety standards
• Maintaining uptime across automated and semi‑automated processes

Equipment & Processes You'll Work On

• Conveyors, elevators, baggers and banders
• Fanuc robots
• Curing ovens and environmental systems
• Plastic injection moulding and strip moulding equipment
• Aluminium extrusion systems
• Silos and bulk handling systemsThe manufacturing process involves high‑volume production with integrated moulding, cutting, curing, spraying and automated racking systems.

Essential Experience & Skills

• Multi‑skilled engineer with a 70/30 electrical bias (moving toward 60/40)
• Strong electrical fault‑finding capability, including:
  • PLC I/O diagnostics
  • Networked systems
  • Safety circuits and interlocks
• Mechanical competence across:
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Gearboxes, shafts, bearings and drives
• Experience working in heavier engineering or industrial manufacturing
• Confident working in fast‑paced, physically demanding environments
• Able to work independently and within a team to resolve breakdowns efficiently

Desirable (Not Essential)

• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
• Electrical testing & inspection experience
• Welding or fabrication skills
• Experience with injection moulding, brick, tile, or aggregates manufacturing
• Health & Safety qualifications or formal training
