Job summary

WAGSTAFF INC in Leicester is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a modern, highly automated production facility. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance across automated machinery, diagnose faults and use CMMS to record activity.

You will work 4 on 4 off, days and nights (06:30-18:30 / 18:30-06:30), with salary around c£59k plus a quarterly bonus and strong career progression within a leading UK food manufacturer.

Qualifications

• Engineering apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / ONC / HNC in Engineering.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and maintenance experience.
• Experience in food manufacturing or fast-paced environments.
• Proactive attitude with willingness to learn and develop.
• Background in FMCG or automated manufacturing environment is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on automated production machinery.
• Diagnose and fault-find on electrical and mechanical systems.
• Record maintenance activity using the CMMS system.
• Support continuous improvement projects to increase reliability and reduce downtime.
• Collaborate with Production and Engineering to maximise plant performance.

The Role

• Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across automated production machinery
• Diagnosing and fault-finding on electrical and mechanical systems
• Recording maintenance activity using the CMMS system
• Supporting continuous improvement projects to increase reliability and reduce downtime
• Working closely with Production and Engineering colleagues to maximise plant performance
• Maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and engineering compliance

About You

• Completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship or be time-served NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, ONC or HNC in Engineering
• Strong electrical fault-finding and maintenance experience
• Previous experience within food manufacturing or another fast‑paced manufacturing environment
• A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
• The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative engineering team
• Whether your background is food, FMCG, packaging, automotive, pharmaceuticals or another automated manufacturing environment, we'd be keen to hear from you.
