Working both with the Maintenance Team or individually to ensure the safe delivery of preventative planned maintenance and repair / fault response for all areas of the Core Business.
The Maintenance Engineer will report into the Maintenance Manager.
Key accountabilities/scope of work:
- Adhere to all Company Procedures and HSE Policies.
- Utilise the in-house Safety system (LO/TO, Permit) to carry out planned repairs/modifications and document all work carried out.
- React to equipment breakdown/malfunctions and repair efficiently and effectively, monitoring the repair until satisfied with the result.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance on all plant and equipment aiming to achieve maximum plant availability, with a target of zero unplanned downtime.
- Complete all relevant paperwork accurately and in a timely manner, correctly recorded on the CMMS system.
- Communicate any concerns which may affect operational objectives to the Engineering Manager in a timely and effective manner.
- Effective and economic control of spare parts for all key processes.
- Provide cover for the key functions of other roles within the shop floor operations where relevant and possible.
- Work in a flexible manner with other engineering staff to provide 24hr technical cover. Identify continuous improvement opportunities, suggest and where relevant implement solutions.
- Complete a full range of maintenance activities across the relevant installed asset base.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and basic fabrications.
- Support other teams/departments where required.
- Accurately complete all monitoring systems in accordance with Company Policies/Procedures/Standards.
- Report any non-conformances and support corrective action activities.
- Contribute to site efficiency and performance standards.
Key experience, qualifications and skills:
- Preferred experience in concrete/pre-cast sector, construction materials or construction sector generally, and/or specific experience in an environment with similar mechanical plant configuration.
- Experience of:
- Fitting & stripping of hydraulic & pneumatic equipment,
- Basic milling, turning, drilling & grinding,
- Use of hand tools for precise operations.
- Experience in working alongside production deadlines, following maintenance schedules and responding to breakdowns.
- Knowledge of Company policies, procedures and practices as applies to the role, employment and the minimum standards of behaviour expected from the job holder in relation to:

- Bullying & Harassment (i.e. behaviour towards colleagues)
- Treating others equally and fairly.
- Ideally a qualified Electrician with an apprenticeship maintenance electrical background.
- Knowledge of mechanical fitting.
- Ideally experienced working within medium/heavy industrial industry.
- Good Electrical knowledge of LV & HV would be beneficial.
- Able to perform mechanical PPMs and repairs.
- Reasonable standard of spoken and written English, demonstrable capability to read and understand work instructions, drawings, and notices/signage to ensure safe working.
- Minimum basic safety training.
