Job summary

Otis is seeking an experienced Service Engineer for night shifts in London to support London Underground escalators. You will maintain and service a portfolio of escalator units, ensuring safety and reliability for passengers and stakeholders. The role requires NVQ Level 3 in Lift/Escalator, night work, and a valid UK driving license.

You will operate within a global team, receive comprehensive training, and benefit from overtime opportunities, pension schemes, and career development at Otis.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Lift and/or Escalator Engineering with significant service/maintenance experience.
• Able to work nights Sunday–Thursday 11pm–7am.
• Experienced escalator engineer with knowledge of a variety of brands.
• Hold a valid UK driving license.
• Flexibility for overtime.
• Strong mechanical and electrical engineering skills.
• Safety-focused, professional and capable of clear communication.
• Able to work alone or in a team and comfortable with electronic/digital tools.

Responsibilities

• Carry out breakdown and repair work on all equipment across site escalators within the portfolio to achieve continual operation.
• Work within London Underground network, managing the portfolio of escalator units.
• Respond proactively and quickly to fix any breakdowns, aiming to achieve first time fix.
• Liaise directly with the customer on site to build a good working relationship.

Role Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced escalator engineer to join our Transport for London team, covering our London Underground escalator portfolio. Your priority is to ensure the safety of passengers and technical stakeholders by safely maintaining a portfolio of escalator units.

On a typical day you will:

• Carry out breakdown and repair work on all equipment across site escalators within the portfolio to achieve continual operation
• Work within London Underground network, managing the portfolio of escalator's within it
• Respond proactively and quickly to fix any breakdowns, aiming to achieve first time fix
• Liaise directly with the customer while on site to build a good working relationship

What you will need to be successful

• You will be qualified to at least NVQ Level 3 in Lift and or Escalator Engineering with significant experience in service and maintenance of escalators
• To be able to work nights Sunday - Thursday starting at 11pm - 7 am.
• You must be an experienced escalator engineer with in-depth knowledge of a variety of different brands of equipment
• Hold a valid UK drivers license
• Flexibility is important and overtime maybe required
• You have good skills in mechanical and electrical engineering
• You are a committed professional, with safety as your priority
• You are comfortable communicating to others
• You are curious, adaptable, and you know how to work alone or in a team
• You are comfortable using electronic and digital tools.
