Job summary

Sabert UK (previously Colpac) is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for our Flitwick site. This full-time role covers installation, diagnostics, repairs and preventive maintenance of all factory machinery, with a focus on reliability and safety.

You will troubleshoot pneumatics, hydraulics and mechanics, work with the Senior Works Engineer on major repairs and maintenance planning, manage parts purchases with budget awareness, and support external contractors while upholding health and safety

Qualifications

• Recent, relevant and proven experience as a maintenance engineer or similar role.
• Higher level qualification in engineering or manufacturing.
• Solid understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanics
• Familiarity using various power and hand tools
• Ability to stand for long hours and lift heavy loads
• Problem-solving and organisational skills - a self-starter who is well organised, positive, flexible and highly motivated to get the job done efficiently and safely using own initiative, and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours and ability to work some overtime
• Confident in communicating verbally and in writing in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide fast and efficient installation, diagnostics, repairs and preventive maintenance to all the machinery, plant and equipment within the factory, keeping the Senior Works Engineer fully informed and up-to-date
• Carry out basic electrical fault diagnosis and repairs
• Work with the Senior Works Engineer to facilitate large or major repairs to plant and equipment
• Assist in the development and implementation of a planned maintenance programme in consultation with the Senior Works Engineer
• Demonstrate the effectiveness of planned maintenance through reducing numbers of breakdowns and problem-free equipment installation
• Purchase sundries, machine parts and services, in liaison with the Senior Operations Engineer, with due regard for stock levels and overall budget
• Arrange, assist and direct external contractors for specialist work or installations in consultation with the Senior Operations Engineer and Operations Director
• Participate in the technical aspects of capital investment decisions
• Advise senior management on Health and Safety issues or concerns

As our Engineer, you will:
