Maintenance Engineer

Extent of Employment: Full-time

The Maintenance Engineer ensures that facilities, layout, and machinery used to produce new and existing materials and goods run to their maximum efficiency and output. This includes total preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns of mechanical, electrical, and robotic equipment.

Responsibilities include:
  • Attending breakdowns, identifying faults, and problem-solving with minimal downtime to production.
  • Carrying out diagnosis, maintenance, and repairs to all types of plant and equipment in a safe, timely, and professional manner, returning equipment to operational service.
  • Estimating time required to complete jobs and assessing consequences of failure to meet deadlines.
  • Identifying and escalating activities that could cause harm or damage.
  • Reporting breakdown root causes, equipment faults, and concerns to management.
  • Ensuring all work is performed to high quality standards and complies with regulations.
  • Meeting company targets regarding the quality of parts produced.
  • Identifying spares requirements and logging usage.
  • Assisting in developing and executing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.
  • Carrying out PPM and work orders as needed, providing feedback for system development.
  • Assisting with moving, installing, and repositioning machines and equipment.
  • Utilizing the computerized maintenance management system effectively.
  • Planning and prioritizing workload to support production and optimize working time.
  • Logging completion of maintenance tasks in management systems.
  • Reporting all incidents and accidents.
Qualifications required:
  • ONC, A Levels, City & Guilds Level 3, BTEC National Diploma Level 3, IVQ Technician Diploma, or NVQ Level 3 equivalent.
  • Experience with facilities management.
  • Significant experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
  • Understanding of how failure/downtime impacts production and customer delivery.
  • Experience in electrical maintenance and installation, including LV.
  • Fork Lift Truck (FLT) license.
  • Understanding of engineering, scientific, and technical information.
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
