Job summary

Allscreens Nationwide Ltd is seeking a Shift Maintenance Engineer for a busy food manufacturing operation. The role covers both day and night shifts on a 4, 5, 5 rolling pattern, with strong focus on safe, reliable operation of production machinery and utilities.

You will perform planned and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime, while supporting food safety and quality standards. Join a fast-paced environment offering development opportunities and a clear path to permanent employment.

Qualifications

  • Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance.
  • Minimum 2 years' engineering experience within a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Multi-skilled engineering experience.
  • Strong mechanical maintenance and fabrication skills.
  • Experience of both planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Experience using CMMS/planned maintenance systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a logical, structured approach.
  • Experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge or experience of Continuous Improvement or Lean methodologies.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues across Engineering and Production.
  • Proactive, reliable and able to take personal responsibility.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and respond to breakdowns quickly.
  • Experience within FMCG or food manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of IFS and food safety standards.
  • Experience working with production and packing equipment.
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing operations.
  • Experience working within a shift-based production environment.
  • Experience of continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Respond quickly and effectively to plant breakdowns.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance in line with the schedule.
  • Complete both planned and reactive maintenance records using the CMMS.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
  • Monitor plant and equipment condition to identify and prevent potential failures.
  • Ensure all machinery, facilities and utilities are maintained in a safe condition.
  • Support the achievement of food safety and quality standards.
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks on time and within costs.
  • Support internal hygiene audits and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Work with the Engineering Manager and wider team on projects.

This is a temporary to permanent opportunity, offering long-term stability and development for the right candidate.</p> <p>As a Shift Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of production machinery, utilities, and engineering systems across the site.
