Job description

Maintenance Electrician – Wetherby

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Electrician to join HMP Wealston, Wetherby.

The role requires working 1 in 4 weekends on a rota basis, with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary.

The Electrician plays a crucial role in ensuring that planned and reactive maintenance within the prison is carried out safely, compliantly, and promptly.

The standard hours are 39 per week, across 7 days, with a weekend shift pattern.

You will be responsible for:

• Planned and preventative electrical maintenance
• Diagnosing and replacing failed domestic electrical components
• Responding to breakdowns, ensuring works follow Safe Systems of Work
• Fault finding and problem solving on domestic electrical systems
• Electrical installation activities per design and IET Wiring Regulations
• Testing and inspecting electrical installations according to current regulations
• Monitoring and ordering critical spares for electrical services

We are looking for candidates with:

Appropriate technical qualifications such as City & Guilds 2365 parts 1-3, BTEC, NVQ level 3 or higher

BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically 18th Edition*

Experience in electrical maintenance, distribution, installation, and testing

Knowledge of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations

Ability to work at heights

*Qualified in 18th Edition preferred; candidates with only 17th Edition will be supported to upgrade, terms apply.

Desirable additional skills include IT skills, fire alarm systems, and CCTV systems, but training will be provided if necessary.
