Job summary

Rydon Maintenance Ltd is seeking an Electrician / Site Supervisor to work on NHS facilities in Southend, Essex. The role combines on-site supervision with active electrical trade duties across two care homes, including reactive and planned maintenance.

The role includes on-call duties with standby allowances and opportunities to progress within the team. A full UK driving licence is required as transport is provided.

Qualifications

• Formal electrical qualifications with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Must hold 18th Edition wiring regulations.
• Experience in maintenance within NHS or FM contractors is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reactive maintenance and repairs, incl. power and lighting faults.
• Planned preventative maintenance such as emergency lighting and fire alarm testing.
• Respond to breakdowns, fault-find and perform minor installations.
• Support general building fabric repairs and manage spares.
• Be an authorised key holder and manage access security.
• Issue and manage Permits to Work and supervise sub‑contractors as needed.
• Undertake spot H&S inspections and provide on-call support on a rota.

Overview

Are you an Electrician with experience working within the Maintenance and Facilities Management sector? Rydon Maintenance Ltd have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrician / Maintenance Site Supervisor to join our highly regarded repairs and maintenance team in Southend, Essex on a facilities management contract with the NHS. This is an excellent opportunity to take on some site supervisory duties, whilst still maintaining an active role within your trade.

Rydon Maintenance Ltd provides a range of hard facilities management and property maintenance services in partnership with a range of NHS Trusts. We provide reactive and planned maintenance to a number of NHS buildings and we work to strict timescales and safety requirements to ensure the comfort and safety of service users using these NHS facilities. Job Purpose

As an Electrician / Site Supervisor your time will be split between supervising the sites and also maintaining an active role in your trade. You will be working across two care homes located in Southend, Essex.

Key responsibilities include;

• Reactive maintenance and repairs such as power and lighting faults
• Planned preventative maintenance (PPM's) such as emergency lighting and fire alarm testing.
• Respond to breakdowns, fault-find and complete minor and small installations.
• You will also support with other general building fabric repairs
• Manage stock of spares and consumables.
• Be an authorised key holder responsible for access to all areas of the buildings complying with security requirements.
• Issue and manage Permits to Work
• Where required supervise sub-contracted work, conduct sub-contractor inductions ensuring standard site set up and documentation is being used and ensure safe working practices
• Undertake spot H&S inspections as required.
• Provide on call support on a rota basis responding to emergency call outs.The normal working hours are 8am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. When on-call you will receive a standby allowance and overtime paid per call out.

Experience Required

Previous relevant experience in the maintenance of buildings is essential, ideally within the NHS (or for a maintenance contractor providing services to the NHS). Alternatively, you will have worked for a maintenance contractor providing a planned/reactive maintenance service in a commercial setting (perhaps a hotel, school, supermarkets etc).

Electrical qualifications to include;

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installations
• 18th edition

You will also have an understanding of Microsoft packages, strong people skills, great attention to detail and be looking for an opportunity that combines supervisory duties whilst still maintaining an active role within a skilled trade.

A full UK driving licence is required as a company van is provided.
