Job summary

Rydon is recruiting an experienced Maintenance Electrician for the NHS Maintenance team at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup. This mobile role involves working with a skilled team to deliver planned, preventative and responsive electrical maintenance for a busy hospital environment.

You will perform electrical repairs, testing and on-call duties within standard hours (8am–5pm, Mon–Fri) with on-call shifts to boost earnings. A strong focus on safety and quality is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as a maintenance electrician, ideally in NHS hospital environments.
• NVQ Level 3 in electrical installations and 18th edition are preferred.
• Strong commitment to safety and compliance in electrical maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned, preventative and responsive electrical maintenance across hospital environments.
• Carry out repairs on electrical systems, circuit breakers, controls, fuses, lights and motors.
• Conduct emergency lighting testing and PPMs as required.

Overview

We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join our NHS Maintenance team at Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup.

Rydon Maintenance is an expanding division of the Rydon Group and is successfully providing hard FM (facilities management services) to a variety of clients, predominantly within the healthcare sector. We provide hard FM services across England for a growing number of NHS Trusts. We look after more than 250 buildings on behalf of 20 NHS Trusts on a planned, responsive repairs and small works projects basis. We provide maintenance services to hospitals, primary care, ambulance and mental health trusts. Using the latest technology we ensure properties are well maintained, efficient and fit for purpose.

Job Purpose

We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join our NHS Maintenance team at Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup. This team which delivers a first-class repairs service in partnership with this large Acute NHS Trust.

This is a mobile position where you will be working as part of a highly skilled maintenance team (consisting of mechanical, electrical and multi skilled maintenance operatives). This team are responsible for ensuring that jobs completed meet the desired quality and customer service standards. You will be responsible for planned, preventative and responsive maintenance to ensure that this busy hospital environment is operational at all times.

The types of work involve commercial electrical repairs, maintenance and installation. This could involve work with circuit breakers, controls, fuses, lights, motors and more. You will also be involved with completing PPM's (planned preventative maintenance) such as emergency lighting testing.

Normal working hours are 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday. You will also participate in an on-call rota system (which offers the opportunity to increase your earnings and be involved in additional urgent repairs).

Experience Required

The successful candidate will have previous experience gained as a maintenance electrician. This experience will ideally have been gained in an NHS hospital environment, though candidates with strong commercial electrical experience will also be considered (ie experience gained in commercial offices, hotels, education etc). The ideal candidate will hold an NVQ or City and Guilds qualification Level 3 for electrical installations and 18th edition. 2391 inspection & testing would be desirable, but is not essential.
